Quite a sizeable 50 hectare domaine run by Nathalie and Gilles and now joined by their daughter Julie a qualified engineer and oenologue. Only one third of the vineyard area is Premier and Grand Cru. After an extremely challenging early and late spring, they sustained significant volume losses to frost and hail. The quality, thankfully, is exemplary. The Fourchaume is text-book concentrated lime, minerals and viscosity – while the Grand Cru Les Preuses is on a different level altogether. 2.5 hectares of 55 old vines. 30% in oak/70% stainless steel it is fat and crisp with a length that runs for a very long time. The modest quite plain label of this domaine disguises a profound Chablis producer. There is a weight of flavour behind the
classically framed Chablis exterior.
