Grolleau traditionally is the variety used for rosé d’anjou, and produces wines with a lovely fresh scent and graphite/wild herb palate character. Made from 60 yr old vines planted at the head of the Coteaux de Layon, in the Champs de Layon, which is a more pastoral and gentler landscape than the slopes where the sweet wines are made.
